D&D enjoys highest-ever Christmas revenues

Restaurant group D&D London has announced its highest ever Christmas revenues, up 14% on the year before.

The company's chairman and chief executive Des Gunewardena said the business had enjoyed an "exceptionally strong Christmas".

He said that the recently remodelled Quaglino's, Avenue and Carom were all stand-out performers, and that its Leeds restaurants Crafthouse and Angelica had also performed particularly well, with all of the venues recording more than 20% revenue growth.

D&D said that sales growth at Christmas had come from a combination of increased covers and growth in spends - Champagne sales, for example, were up 15% on 2013.

Meanwhile the company's UK like-for-like revenues were 10% compared with the prior year.

D&D London owns and operates restaurants in London, Leeds, Paris, New York and Tokyo, as well as the 80-bedroom South Place hotel in London.
