D&D London to open first restaurant in Japan
D&D London, formerly Conran Restaurants, has unveiled details of its first restaurants in Japan.
The Botanic and Iconic restaurants and specialist deli Noodle Workshop have been developed in partnership with Japanese restaurant group, Hiramatsu, and mark the first of eight to 10 D&D eateries to open in the country.
Noodle Workshop, also located within the Tokyo Midtown building, offers a range of hot and cold noodle dishes, salads and pastries to take away or to eat on the premises.
Iconic is situated on the 9th floor of a building overlooking the busy Ginza district and will open on 19 April. It will consist of four areas, a restaurant, the Plaza Bar, a function room and private dining rooms.
Des Gunewardena, chairman and chief executive of D&D London, said: "These projects have been in development for a number of years and it is very exciting to see them come to fruition.
"Working with Hiramatsu has enabled us to create restaurants which we think are sympathetic to the Japanese market while at the same time injecting something quite different into the Tokyo restaurant scene."
All three restaurants have been designed by Conran & Partners with personal direction from Terence Conran.
