Earl of Sandwich to relaunch in UK
Earl of Sandwich, owned by Earl Enterprises, will be relaunching in the UK at Bluewater later this month, after its one London outlet closed last year.
The new 551 sq ft restaurant based in the shopping centre's Winter Garden will serve hot sandwiches, wraps, salads, pizza, pasta, soup, smoothies, coffee and brownies.
Earl Enterprises also owns Planet Hollywood, Buca di Beppo, Planet Dailies and Mixology 101.The company hopes to build on the Earl of Sandwich's popularity in America, where it has 27 sites.
Alex Garland, managing director for EMEA at Earl Enterprises, said: "We have been seeking a launch site in the UK for some time and Bluewater really stood out. Its reputation is unrivalled, both in the UK and the wider European context, which is why it is so popular with expanding international brands."
The brand's original UK site opened in Ludgate Hill in 2011 but closed in early 2014.
Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater, added: "Earl of Sandwich is another great addition to Bluewater's line-up of leading UK and international brands. Their unique combination of heritage and high quality grab-and-go food adds something new to Bluewater, providing guests with even greater choice."
A 472 sq ft healthy Lebanese street food restaurant called Shawa will also be opening in the Winter Garden before Christmas.
Shawa, sister brand to Comptoir Libanais - the Lebanese-inspired canteen-style restaurant founded by Tony Kitous - will be the brand's first location outside London.
Champagne bar Oh You Pretty Things, a converted Citroen H Van, will also open later this month in Bluewater Village.
In addition to the three new brands, Lola's Cupcakes will be relocating to a 284 sq ft unit on Bluewater's lower Thames Walk in January 2016.
Catering sales for Bluewater's dining brands are up 8% compared with last year.
