Entries invited for UK restaurant manager of the year

Entries are being invited by the Academy of Food & Wine Service for its 2014 UK Restaurant Manager of the Year.

Now in its sixth year, the awards are open to restaurant managers or those working in a similar role in any sector of hospitality responsible for managing and training staff.

Janine Swales from BaxterStorey won last year's competition. The general manager of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club training centre in Enfield won a stay at the Manhattan hotel in New York, with a stage at a top New York Daniel Boulud restaurant.

This year successful entries will go forward to a semi-final where they will be interviewed and tested on their knowledge of the job. Those who impress will receive a visit from the judges at their own establishment to examine their service standards and training.

First round entries can be downloaded at www.restaurantmanageroftheyear.co.uk
