Fancy Funkin Chicken to open first site in Brixton

Chic chicken shop concept Fancy Funkin Chicken is set to open on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton, south London this September.

Founded by Nathan Pattie (co-founder of Pix-Bar in Covent Garden), Rollo Weeks (formerly of Sketch in Mayfair) and Lars Larson (formerly of the Cuckoo Club in Mayfair), the 50-cover venue will offer ethically-sourced, free-range fried chicken crusted with a traditional southern American herbs and spices recipe.

Chicken wings and boneless bites feature on the menu alongside fried or flame-grilled chicken breast or thigh burgers, such as the ‘totally tropical' burger served with charred pineapple and smoked chilli mayo, and the ‘big and greedy' burger slathered in cheese, crispy bacon, caramelised onion, lettuce and mayo. Sides include chilli cheese fries, tater tots and corn breads, as well as fresh doughnuts.

The site's dining room interior evokes urban, raw and residential warmth with hand-crafted antique and neon lighting, quirky furnishings, stencil art and a herb garden suspended overhead.

Fancy Funkin Chicken will also host a music programme of jazz and funk, and DJs performing from Thursdays through to Sundays.
