Feng Sushi plans eighth site for West Hampstead

Feng Sushi has announced plans to open a 50-cover site in West Hampstead in June.

The site will be the eighth for the Japanese restaurant group, which has forged a reputation for sustainable sushi and seafood since its launch by co-founder Silla Bjerrum in 1999.

Its interior, which will be designed by London architects Stiff + Trevillion, will retain the group's kimono pattern design and fish tanks. In addition to 34 covers inside, there will be tables outside catering for up to 16 diners.

Offering Feng Sushi's signature hot dishes such as spicy cuttlefish noodle soup, the menu will be similar to the other sites, featuring traditional and contemporary sushi and sashimi, Japanese-inspired salads and soups. Specials might include cherry-smoked sea trout and watercress donburi, yellowtail and ikura ceviche or warm sake-marinated mackerel salad.

The West Hampstead site is the second launch since Luke Johnson bought a majority share in 2010, and one of several expected in the next two years.
