Fifth site for Fishworks as growth continues

Seafood restaurant chain Fishworks is to open its fifth and largest restaurant, in London's Marylebone High Street, in November or December.

News of the acquisition came as Fishworks reported sales up by 70% to £2.5m for the year to 29 February, from £1.47m a year earlier.

The increase was mainly the result of the opening of a new restaurant in Chiswick, west London, but also reflected rising sales at the chain's three other sites.

Pre-tax losses widened to £560,000 (from £360,000).

The three existing sites were refitted during the year to take in lessons learnt from the Chiswick branch.

Chief executive Roy Morris said: "The style, ‘foodie' focus and the people living in and visiting this villagey area so suits the FishWorks offering."

Fishworks' sites combine a restaurant, fishmongers and cookery school.
