First Hopper & Bean café to open in north London

A new family-run café is set to open this August at Winchmore Hill in Enfield, north London called Hopper & Bean.

The first café from founders Chet Izzet and his sister and brother-in-law Liz and Hass Hassan, the venue is partnering with local businesses for its food and drink offering including Allpress Roastery in Dalston, east London, Celtic Bakery in Wood Green, north London, as well as Manchester-based Brew Tea Co.

The venue, a former dry cleaners that is being transformed by Avocado Sweets Design Studio, will have a ‘rustic feel', with communal bench seating, black chalk paint, oak flooring and white and mosaic tiling. It will have 40-50 covers and also a screen displaying the station train times.

Speaking to The Caterer, Izzet said: "In this area we don't have a coffee place like in central and east London, so it's bringing that to Winchmore Hill. In terms of drinks we've gone with the best that we could go with. To begin with we're just going to be doing espresso-based drinks, and then slowly introduce different pouring methods.

"This is the first, the dream is to have more than one on the outskirts of London. Winchmore Hill is our baby and hopefully the flagship store, and we'll go from there."
