First-time buyer for Indian bar-restaurant in Leicester

Leicester-based Kieran Virk has bought the city's Cinnamon Red and Mezbaan Indian bar-restaurant in a first-time purchase.

Virk paid in excess of £675,000 for the freehold on the property in Wellington Street, which occupies a prime location on the city's main licensed circuit.

The four-storey property has been trading across the two lower floors, which can seat 80 people downstairs and another 100 upstairs.

The new owner is running the business as a bar-restaurant and club and he has widened the menu to offer a Pan-Asian/Creole cuisine.

Virk has converted the two unused floors into a club that sits above the first-floor restaurant and ground-floor bar .

The Nottingham office of Christie + Co sold the property on behalf of Sandeep Vara, who has owned the restaurant for two years.
