Francesco Mazzei joins D&D London
Italian chef Francesco Mazzei has joined D&D London to become chef patron of Sartoria restaurant when it relaunches later this year following a refurbishment.
The move comes after Mazzei left L'Anima in London EC2, which he launched back in 2008 with the backing of American property director Peter Morano, in March this year.
Mazzei said: "It is a joy for me to join a company for whom I have such respect for their quality of chefs and food, I believe now is the right time for me to move into the West End and I am thoroughly looking forward to making Sartoria one of London's best Italian restaurants."
D&D's managing director David Loewi said: "We are absolutely delighted and thrilled that Francesco will be heading up the new Sartoria. He is undoubtedly one of the most gifted Italian chefs cooking in London today and will bring something very special to D&D London."
D&D London stands for CEO Des Gunewardena and MD David Loewi who led the buyout of Conran Restaurants in September 2006. The company has been backed by UK equity house LDC since April 2013 and owns and operates over 30 restaurants in London, Leeds, Paris, New York and Tokyo.
