Gary Usher reveals opening date for Hispi
Gary Usher has announced the opening date of his third site, Hispi, as Friday 7 October.
The 60-cover bistro will open in the previous Jem & I restaurant in Didsbury after a site in Chorlton, south Manchester, fell through.
In April, Usher raised almost £60,000 through crowdfunding to open the bistro and received an additional £100,000 of funding from his bank.
In a statement on Kickstarter.com, he said: "It's hard to describe how it feels to have nearly 1,000 people, the majority who I have never met, believe in something I am trying to get off the ground. It is both overwhelming and humbling. The support has been truly amazing."
Hispi will be a ‘relaxed style of bistro' according to Usher, which will serve ‘neighbourhood bistro grub' including fresh bread, braised meat, cheesy truffle chips and baked tarts.
Usher, who won the Menu of the Year Catey award in 2013, owns Sticky Walnut in Chester. In 2014, he raised £100,000 to open his second site, Burnt Truffle on the Wirral.
