Giraffe and Ed's Easy Diner operator appoints KPMG to advise on underperforming brands

Boparan Restaurant Group has appointed auditors KPMG to review options on its underperforming brands, the company has confirmed.

The Caterer understands KPMG has specifically been brought in to consider options for the Giraffe and Ed's Easy Diner brands - including the potential sale of those operations. The restaurant group as a whole operates several high street names including fish and chip chain Harry Ramsdens and Slim Chickens.

Food industry tycoon Ranjit Boparan acquired part of the Ed's Easy Diner chain in 2016. The deal saw Giraffe Holdings take on 33 branches of the struggling American-style casual dining outlet, leaving 26 in administration.

A spokeswoman for Boparan Restaurant Group said: "BRG operates a portfolio of restaurant brands most of which are trading well despite some of the most difficult trading conditions seen in the UK for some time.

"Whilst we have some star brands, we have one or two that are performing less well. We are therefore looking at a number of options and have hired KPMG to advise."
