Giraffe to open three more sites

Tesco-owned restaurant chain Giraffe is to open three more sites this spring.

Giraffe will launch at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and Tesco Ipswich Mertlesham Extra in March, followed by a third site on Glasgow's 1 West Regent Street in April.

The Cheshire Oaks restaurant will be the second project Giraffe has undertaken with landlord McArthur Glen, following a recent launch at the Swindon Designer Outlet.

Andrew Jacobs, co-founder and managing director of Giraffe, said: "The Swindon Designer Outlet marked our first ever launch with McArthur Glen and based on performance, we're very optimistic for Cheshire Oaks come March.

"Our second site in Glasgow on the high street is also a great location, given its proximity to Buchanan Street and the nearby stations. We are on course to pursue our pipeline of five to 10 sites this year."

Giraffe operates 60 restaurants around the UK, seven of which are at airports, as well as three restaurants in the United Arab Emirates.

The business, co-founded by Russel and Juliette Joffe and Andrew Jacobs, was acquired by Tesco for £48m in March 2013.

The Joffes resigned from the brand in August last year, with Jacobs taking over as chief executive in September.
