Gourmet Burger Kitchen set for third London West End opening
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) has announced it will be opening a new site on Berners Street in central London, its 36th site in London and third in London's West End.
GBK was recently acquired by Wimpy owner Famous Brands for £120m and has 75 sites in total across the UK.
The 100-cover, 3,500 sq ft burger restaurant is being completely refurbished by an in-house team and is due to open in late 2016. It will be close to the planned Crossrail station, opening in 2017.
Restaurant property agency Shelley Sandzer acted on behalf of GBK in the deal.
Keith Bird, chief operating officer of GBK, said: "We wanted to expand within the capital, and Shelley Sandzer helped us find a great space in central London. With the success of local redevelopments such as the Berners Tavern, combined with the substantial footfall from Oxford Street and nearby Soho, the dynamics of the location made it the perfect choice for us as a brand."
Casey Phillips, partner at Shelley Sandzer, added: "Fitzrovia has seen some significant change as of late. As well as Crossrail the area is undergoing major redevelopment such as the Plaza Shopping centre and Royal Mail Sorting Office. GBK is a great addition to the dining line-up in the area."
