Grilled cheese shop to open in London

A new grilled cheese sandwich shop called Melt Room is to open in London's Soho this May.

Founded by Andrey Datsenko, the shop aims to tap into the current trend for comfort food with a taste of New York.

Championing British cheeses and using a hot brick method for cooking and pressing the sandwich, sandwiches on offer include: the Classic (made with Keens cheddar double slices); slow & low lamb shoulder with mustard, dressed greens and melted Swiss; and rare roast beef with Sparkenhoe red Leicestershire.

All combinations are served with organic, sourdough bread from London's Wapping bakery, and use free-range native breeds meat from Gloucestershire.

Datsenko, said: "I spent the better part of my youth studying hospitality management in New York and very quickly became addicted to the delicious and hearty grilled cheese sandwiches the city had to offer. I am very excited to launch Melt Room, not only to fix my own grilled cheese cravings, but to offer Londoners a gourmet American-inspired version of this much loved snack."

The shop, at 26 Noel Street, will open from 7am for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has 12 seats available for guests. It will also offer a local delivery service.
