Guy Betteridge appointed head chef at Heddon Street Kitchen

The Gordon Ramsay Group has appointed Guy Betteridge as the new head chef of Heddon Street Kitchen, near London's Regent Street.

Betteridge joins the 232-cover restaurant from his previous role as senior sous chef at Bread Street Kitchen, where he worked for four years. He also spent six months at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, before taking up the role of chef de partie at the Savoy Grill.

He will now lead a brigade of 20 chefs, and help to oversee and develop the site's European-style menu.

Originally from St Albans in Hertfordshire, Betteridge began his career as a commis chef at Gordon Ramsay Group's Boxwood Café, working under then-executive chef Stuart Gillies (who is now group managing director). He began with an apprenticeship at the Grove hotel, training at Westminster College at the same time.

Heddon Street Kitchen first opened in late 2014, with the opening head chef as Maria Tampakis.

The Gordon Ramsay Group now has a total of 29 restaurants, and six Michelin stars, across the world including Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Atlantic City, Le Pressoir d'Argent in Bordeaux, Gordon Ramsay at Forte Village, Sardinia, London House Hong Kong, and the Bread Street Kitchen in Hong Kong, Dubai and Singapore.

It operates 14 sites across London, including flagship, three-Michelin-starred site Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea. The group's other UK venues include Grill Park Walk, Maze Grill Royal Hospital Road; Maze, London House, Plane Food by Gordon Ramsay at Heathrow's Terminal 5, and Union Street Café in London.
