Hartford Group buy means more Henry J Beans sites

The Hartford Group has acquired two new leasehold sites to convert to its Henry J Beans restaurant format, kicking off its expansion plans for the chain.

Located in Chelmsford, Essex, and London's Wimbledon, the sites were owned by bar operator Luminar and traded under the name "The".

The Hartford Group, which will change its name to the Food & Drink Group next month, paid £750,000 for the two sites.

Hartford bought Henry J Beans in September 2005 for £5.8m. It aims to open new restaurants across the UK, located in university and cathedral towns.
