Harvester opens its 200th outlet
Casual-dining chain Harvester opened its 200th restaurant yesterday as the business continues its ambitious expansion plans.
The new restaurant in Peterborough marks a major milestone for the Mitchells and Butlers-owned business, which opened its first restaurant in Morden, south west London, in 1983.
Located in the Pavillions in Peterborough, the new Harvester Salad & Grill has created more than 50 new jobs, taking the number of people employed in the UK by the brand to more than 8,000.
This job creation is set to increase as Harvester's results continue to defy the current trend in the economy. Harvester has plans for further growth as the company continues to expand its presence across Britain.
Alex Meyer, senior marketing manager for Harvester Salad & Grill, said: "To open our 200th restaurant represents a landmark in our expansion plans. Our success has and continues to be based on our commitment ‘to bring out the best', which means freshly prepared food, prepared by dedicated chefs and, of course, the iconic Harvester salad bar.
"Over the last seven years we have opened more than 70 restaurants across the UK and we are committed to further growth in the next few years."
