Hawksmoor Manchester turns front of house blunder into PR praise after £4,500 wine mis-sold
Hawksmoor Manchester has turned a front of house blunder into PR praise after revealing a staff member had accidentally served a £4,500 bottle of wine.
The firm, which was named in The Caterer
Remarking on the mix up on Twitter, the restaurant said: "To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night - hope you enjoyed your evening!
"To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway."
The wine is the most expensive on the ‘rarities' section of the restaurant's list, with only 500 cases of the wine made. It is unclear how much the customer paid for the bottle.
It comes after Hawksmoor Manchester's success in caring for and retaining staff was announced at The Caterer‘s People Summit yesterday. The firm ranked 15th out of the top 30, with a staff survey carried out by Purple Cubed finding 100% of respondents found the restaurant to have a good working environment.
