Hawksmoor owner Underdog Restaurants posts 13% profit increase

Underdog Restaurants, which operates the London-based Hawksmoor brand, has posted successful results for the 12 months to December 2012, seeing an increase in both turnover and profit.

The company attributed the improved performance to strong like for like sales as well as the successful openings of two new Hawksmoor branches: in Basinghall Street (its "Guildhall" branch) and Air Street, London, in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

The positive results come just weeks after the group announced a new private equity deal, in which founders and friends Will Beckett and Huw Gott sold a minority stake in their four-branch business to Graphite Capital for a reported £35m.

Beckett and Gott's fifth site â€' a 100-cover venue to be named Foxlow â€' set to open on St John Street, London, this November.
