Ibérica confirms details on soon-to-open London Victoria site

More details have been released about the new Ibérica site planned for London's Victoria district, in the new Zig Zag Building on Victoria Street.

First announced in 2013, the new 142-cover, 346 sq m (3,724 sq ft) site has now been confirmed as opening on 17 August. It will also have a 42-cover terrace, and two private dining rooms seating parties of four to six. It will open from late morning until 11pm Monday to Saturday, and midday to 4pm on Sundays.

The site will be the group's sixth, after its four London venues and one in Manchester.

The menu has been designed by the group's executive chef, Michelin-starred Nacho Manzano, and group head chef Cesar García, and will include platters made with cured hams and artisan cheese, alongside signature tapas such as paella; crispy suckling pig; serrano ham croquettes and a mixed grill of pork cuts using prime Ibérico meat from País de Quercus.

The wine menu will also offer an extensive selection of Spanish varieties as well as gin and tonics, sangria, and cocktails.

Interior-wise, the restaurant has been created by Barcelona-based architect and designer Lazaro Rosa Violan, who has worked on previous Ibérica sites. Inspired by traditional Spanish décor, the venue features exposed pipe fixtures and light fittings, with displays made of metal utensils designed to contrast with soft sofa seating, leather banquettes and bottles of wine in showcases.

Other decorative elements include a large bull's head on the wall, alongside cabinets of crockery from Seville, and hanging garlands of dried garlic, herbs and chilli along the ceiling.

The site will also house a delicatessen selling artisan products imported from Spain, available to take away, including seafood preserves, cured meats, olives, cheeses and Jerez sherry.

Ibérica first opened in Marylebone in 2008, followed by Canary Wharf in 2011. It followed with its seasonal location La Terraza in 2013 (which opens from May to October), Farringdon in 2014, and Manchester's Spinningfields in March 2015.

In 2013, it announced plans to open 10 new locations by 2016, after securing a £2m funding package with bank Santander Corporate and Commercial.
