Jackdaw ceases trading

London jazz café Jackdaw in Clapton has ceased trading after just a few months.

The venue, owned by Angela Fisher and Ash Assaye, opened late last year.

The pair recruited head chef Joshua Dallaway after spotting him on BBC2 TV series Chefs on Trial, and he devised a menu offering dishes including confit rabbit croquette, Dijon mayonnaise and pickles, and Cornish grey mullet with courgette and feta.

It was split into two spaces, the larger of which was a ground floor dining room, and a basement, which hosted live music performances.

Fisher and Assaye sent a brief email to customers yesterday, stating: "It is with regret that Jackdaw has ceased trading. The company is on the market. Our sincere thanks go to everybody who has supported us."
