Jason Atherton to open first Alpine outpost in St Moritz

Jason Atherton is to open his first Alpine outpost, King's Social House, in St Moritz, Switzerland.

The restaurant will open in Badrutt's Palace hotel on 6 December, offering an informal dining experience, which will see the space transform into a nightclub as the evening progresses.

Atherton said: "I love to ski with my family in St Moritz and have been going for as long as I remember. I enjoy the energy and excitement of skiing and want to echo this in a dining experience for customers that is somewhere they can socialise and integrate. The service, atmosphere and sharing plates on the menu encourage a sociable dining experience; a place where people can visit not only for the food quality but as a truly special place where they can be comfortable and cherish time with loved ones."

Menus will feature dishes including roasted wild mushroom ‘served in a bag' cep toast, truffle morels ‘fondue' and roasted lobster served with triple-cooked duck-fat chips. A selection of sharing plates showcasing wood-fired meat and fish dishes will also be on offer as well as a British inspired pork pie trolley.

At the helm of Atherton's first Swiss venue will be head chef Marcus Rohlen, who joined Pollen Street Social as junior sous chef in 2011, progressing to head chef of Social Wine and Tapas, in London's Marylebone.

The restaurant will also feature a programme of international DJs, curated by Mr Mike.

Badrutt's Palace Hotel's managing director Richard Leuenberger said: "Much like the surrounding hotel, the aim was to create a spirited and interactive atmosphere that provides a sense of occasion and yet lacks pretension. We are thrilled to be working with such a skilled chef and restaurateur and look forward to an eventful winter season."
