Local restaurateurs buy leading French restaurant in Edinburgh

Les Bistrot des Arts, one of Edinburgh's leading French restaurants, has changed hands.

It is set to become the second Olive Branch bistro on 1 April under new owners Stuart and Kerry Thom, who opened the first restaurant of that name in the city's Broughton Street during 2003.

Stuart has previously worked in Edinburgh's Witchery, Tower and Zinc restaurants and managed the National Galleries of Scotland restaurant in Prince's Street for Searcy's.

Their new 60-seat restaurant occupies the ground floor and basement of a four-storey tenement building at Colington Street in Edinburgh's Morningside district.

The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold off a guide price in excess of £80,000 on behalf of Eric Ortiz (who previously gained Michelin stars at two Parisian restaurants) and Celia Whitaker.
