Looe restaurant sells within 24 hours

The Exeter office of Christie + Co sold the Bucklawren Granary restaurant in Cornwall within 24 hours of being appointed to market the property.

The restaurant is based at Bucklawren Farm in St Martin, four miles from the fishing village of Looe. It is part of a complex of restored farm buildings that include luxury B&B and self-catering cottages.

Previous owners Robert and Jean Henly converted the building into a restaurant in 2000 but it was not trading at the time of the sale.

The property, which is spread over two floors, includes a 34-seat restaurant and a 48-seat function room, with a large courtyard and patio to the rear.

The new owners are Simon and Jeanette Fry from nearby Tideford. Simon, a builder by trade, has a large family that will help run the restaurant including his children who are chefs.

The Fry's plan to reopen the property at the end of March, serving traditional English food at lunch times and evening and catering for functions.

The property sold off an asking price of £25,000 for the leasehold interest.
