Loungers opens its fourth Cosy Club
Café/bar/restaurant operator Loungers has opened its fourth Cosy Club site in Salisbury in Wiltshire, its 25th site overall.
The latest Cosy Club opening is located on New Street near the city's cathedral and follows the £600,000 conversion of a Grade-II listed former office building.
The 6,000sq ft site comprises 1,300sq ft of bar area, a 110-seat dining area split over two floors and a 70-seat terrace.
Loungers has also confirmed that work will start in early September on its first site in the North-west after contracts were exchanged on a 2,900sq ft site in the Mann Island development in Liverpool. The site, which will operate under the group's Lounge format, is likely to open in late October.
Loungers managing director Alex Reilley said that the Mann Island opening would be the first of many anticipated opening in the North-west and that deals are already agreed on a further three sites in the region. It is understood that terms have been agreed on a 3,000sq ft site in the Marine Point development in New Brighton in the Wirral where Loungers will join the likes of Prezzo in the scheme.
Negotiations are also underway on two sites in Manchester where the group has identified up to 10 potential suburbs/areas of interest. The first of the Manchester openings is likely to be in Fallowfield where it is understood terms have been agreed on a 3,500sq ft former tram station that is adjacent to a Sainsbury's. It is also understood that terms on a 3,000sq ft site in Didsbury have also been agreed subject to change of use planning being obtained.
Reilley added: "As previously stated, we believe there is huge growth potential for us in the North-west. We have identified over a dozen target locations in Liverpool, Manchester and Greater Manchester and believe the Lounge format is extremely well suited to the area".
Loungers is set to open its 26th site, Arcado Lounge in Christchurch, Dorset, on 5 September.
