Marco Pierre White makes two key appointments to lead his Newcastle restaurant

Marco Pierre White has made two key appointments to lead his Newcastle restaurant the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill.

The celebrity chef's newest venture will see Matt Castelli (pictured) join as its new executive head chef, and George Liddle take the reins as restaurant manager. The restaurant is part of Sanguine Hospitality's new £14m hotel Indigo Newcastle development which will open in March.

Castelli joins from Marco Pierre White at the Swan Inn in Aughton, Lancashire. He was classically trained at Mallory Court in Leamington Spa and has also worked on private yachts in the Mediterranean.

Tyneside-born Liddle is returning to the North East after more than 10 years at London's Ritz hotel.
