Marco Pierre White's restaurant at the Swan Inn is sold
Marco Pierre White's restaurant at the Swan Inn in Aughton, Lancashire, has been sold and will reopen as a Mitchells & Butlers pub in the New Year.
Owner Sanguine Hospitality, which recently opened an Indigo hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse at the Cube development in Birmingham, said it was disposing of the pub to focus on prime city centre sites.
"The deal is expected to be completed in the New Year," chairman Simon Matthews-Williams told the Liverpool Daily Post.
"We hope to relocate many of our staff members to new roles within our existing and forthcoming North West properties, but the law dictates that we must begin the process of consultation and redundancy now."
Sanguine Hospitality earlier this month appointed Robin Wicks as its new chief executive. Wicks, whose career includes a 16-year spell working in a variety of senior roles at Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), will oversee an expansion strategy that includes the launch of six new venues in the next 12 months.
