Marcus Verberne promoted to head chef of Hix at the Albemarle Rocco

Marcus Verberne has been promoted from head chef to executive chef of Hix at the Albemarle Rocco.

He has worked alongside Mark Hix for 10 years, previously at Le Caprice, J Sheekey and the Ivy, before joining Rocco Forte's Brown's hotel in February 2008 as head chef.

Originally from New Zealand, Verberne began his career in Wellington before moving to Melbourne, Australia, to work alongside Bill Marchetti at Marchetti's Latin and then Cecconi's. In 2001, he relocated to London.

Stuart Johnson, general manager of Browns hotel and Mark Hix, said: "Marcus will oversee all of Rocco Forte's Brown's hotel's food and beverage outlets, including HIX at the Albemarle, the English Tea Room, the Donovan Bar, along with six private dining rooms and in-room dining for 117 rooms and suites."
