MasterChef champion Simon Wood to open second restaurant in Chester

MasterChef 2015 champion Simon Wood has announced he will open his second restaurant in Chester in Spring 2019.

Wood Chester will open as part of the new Hotel Indigo, on Grosvenor Park Road, part of the InterContinental Hotel Group.

Wood will take on responsibility for the hotels entire F&B offering, including room service and breakfast.

The announcement comes just six months after Wood opened his first restaurant Wood Manchester and he told The Caterer his second restaurant would be very similar.

He explained: "It's exciting stuff, it's almost a replica image of Wood Manchester. That's working phenomenally well so it makes sense to keep the same thing.

"This has always been the plan to expand and I think it's come around quite quickly, everyone will agree to that, but it's just right. Everything has worked really well in Manchester, the opportunity presented itself and it's time to take it."

The restaurant will have 80 covers as well as a 10 seat private dining room offering à la carte and tasting menus seven-days-a-week.

A separate bar area will offer the space for a further 32 covers.
