Metro's critic unimpressed by Tom's Place
Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens eco-friendly fish and chips restaurant Tom's Place has been given a panning by the London Metro's food critic Marina O'Loughlin.
In her review of the Chelsea-based eaterie, O'Loughlin expressed dismay at both the interiors and the quality of the fish and chips and the restaurant.
"Despite its cutesy Chelsea Village setting, I don't like the look of the place," she said.
"Crucially, frying doesn't appear to be a major skill: batter is clunky, solid and disappointing."
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard's Fay Maschler was full of praise for Jason Atherton's Maze's Grill, which aims to emulate New York steak houses, while Jan Moir is well impressed with the vegan cooking at Saf.
