Michelin offers star to culinary school's training restaurant in 2019 Swiss guide

Michelin has honoured a new batch of restaurants in the Swiss edition of the guide, handing out two sets of two stars and crowning 21 new one-star sites.

One of the recipients, Le Berceau des Sens, is believed to be the first training restaurant to be offered a star in the institution's history.

The site runs alongside the hôtelière de Lausanne near Geneva and is headed up by Cédric Bourassin. The prestigious school is staffed by a combination of teachers and students.

This year's recipients of their second star were Focus in Vitznau and Pavillion in Zurich, which operates under chef de cuisine Laurent Eperon at the Baur au Lac hotel.

The nation now boasts a total of 105 one-starred sites, 20 two-starred and three three-starred. Twelve deletions were made to the list, including the two-starred restaurant Georges Wenger in Le Noirmont. Wenger retired from the restaurant, which still bears his name, last year.
