Michelin stars for 2018 to be revealed on 1 October

The Michelin stars for Great Britain and Ireland 2018 will be revealed at a live event on 1 October at the BFI IMAX cinema in London, the red book's operators have confirmed.

The coveted stars and bib gourmands will be announced at a cinematic experience in the heart of the capital at an event themed around the relationship between gastronomy and film.

And in a possible hint of things to come, Rebecca Burr, director of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland, said this year's results were indicative of the "ever-evolving culinary scene" across the region.

She said: "This is shaping up to be such an exciting year for us. We have a new venue and a theme that will give guests a unique experience.

"We are very much looking forward to celebrating that in October."

The event will coincide with the release of the 2019 edition of the guide, which will be made available to the public on 5 October.

Burr added: "We're proud of the Michelin Guide's rich heritage, but we are also proud that it is more relevant than ever.

"Our customers value our consistency, our expertise and our independence and it's these qualities which have established the Michelin star as a global benchmark."
