Mowgli announces plans for Bristol opening

Bengali-inspired restaurant group Mowgli has announced plans to open in Bristol in October 2019 after a "long and hard" trawl for a site in the city.

Mowgli has grown to eight sites since launching in Liverpool in 2014, with Bristol joining Cardiff and Leicester in its pipeline of 2019 openings.

Founder Nisha Katona tweeted: "Announcing Mowgli Bristol!!! It took us ages to find the right corner of this incredible city but you asked for a Mowgli in Bristol and we trawled long and hard ever since. I love this stunning high-ceilinged old building on Corn Street."

Katona, who was awarded an MBE for services to the food industry in the New Year's Honours 2019, told The Caterer earlier this year that the group would look to grow by four to five sites a year.

This group's growth has been facilitated in part by a £3.45m investment from the Foresight Group, a deal that included the appointment of Café Rouge founder Karen Jones as chair.
