New York-based the One Group is to launch its steakhouse brand, STK, at London's new ME hotel in Aldwych.
STK London will open to the public in September and will aim to offer diners a modern twist on the traditional steakhouse, with a "feminine interpretation" of the menu.
The opening coincides with the One Group's other UK project, the launch of the Heliot restaurant, lounge and bar at the Hippodrome Casino.
Jonathan Segal, the British founder of the group, opened STK New York in Manhattan's meatpacking district in 2007.
He explained the STK concept and the decision to open in London: "We did a small survey of friends and women said they liked steakhouses but were intimidated by all the dark wood and sombre atmosphere.
"Also, women don't want a whole cow on their plate. My family have owned and operated leisure businesses in the UK and Jersey for over 40 years and with our experience of the UK we have planned for the first STK outside of the USA to be a homecoming."
The new restaurant in the ME hotel will be the seventh location of the concept, and will contain the restaurant's signature style, including plaster-cast horns, black platform seats and a palette of black gloss and cream.
A large central bar lounge is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining, while a DJ will be on hand throughout the evening.
