Omar Allibhoy wins 2015 Entrepreneur Hall of Fame award

Omar Allibhoy has won the Young Entrepreneur Award at the 2015 British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame event.

The Tapas Revolution group founder was recognised for building a thriving restaurant group, having started his hospitality career at the age of eight selling cakes in Madrid. He now runs three Tapas Revolution sites, with two more planned.

Commenting on his surprise win, Allibhoy thanked the judges and said: "I'm truly honoured and really didn't expect to win with so many worthy nominees. It's great to join such an illustrious list of previous winners. This award means a lot to me because I've put my heart and soul into Tapas Revolution, so for it to be recognised in this way is very gratifying."

Along with Allibhoy, Jumeirah Group president and chief executive Gerald Lawless was also honoured at the event, having been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

He said: "It is a great privilege for me to have been inducted into the British Travel and Hospitality Hall of Fame. I am delighted that I was able to attend the ceremony with colleagues, friends and family. I would like to thank the panel for having recognised my work in the industry with this honour."

Other new Hall of Fame inductees included Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, founders of restaurants and bars group Corbin & King; former Whitbread managing director Patrick Dempsey, and Travel Corporation chairman Stanley Tollman.

The British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame honours outstanding business achievement in the travel, hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors. Hall of Fame members and award winners have all achieved outstanding commercial success and shown inspirational leadership in the industry sectors they serve.

Created by The Caterer, in partnership with sister brand Travel Weekly, the event took place on 13 April at London's Dorchester hotel.
