One Aldwych chef moves to Freckenham pub

A former sous chef at the five-star One Aldwych hotel in London is part of the team that has bought a brand new Enterprise Inns lease on Suffolk's Golden Boar Inn.

It has been sold Vaggy Spyrou and family, including son-in-law and head chef Sergio Neale, who is serving up a freshly-prepared modern European menu at the Golden Boar.

It attracts business from a wide area including the racing mecca of Newmarket, the US air bases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath, the market town of Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge city.

The Golden Boar Inn offers six en-suite bedrooms, a lounge and locals bar, a split-level 56-seat restaurant, and outside areas to seat more than 20 and 40 guests respectively in the patio and beer garden.

The business also provides two-bedroom accommodation for the owners.

The Ipswich office of Christie + Co sold the new, 25-year lease off an asking price of £49,000. Rent starts at £67,450 per year.
