Openings: The Modern Pantry
Anna Hansen and head chef Rob Mcleary have opened the Modern Pantry on Finsbury Square in London. This is the second venture for chef-patron Anna Hansen, who opened the Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell in 2008.
The new venue is housed in the Alphabeta building and features a 20-seater solid oak bar serving Hansen's globally inspired tapas alongside a range of sherry-based cocktails and classic liveners.
For parties and large groups there is a private dining room separated by a tall, deep-blue frame with moveable panels, which overlooks a communal dining table seating up to 28 guests. The design of the restaurant takes its cue from Hansen's family roots in Denmark by way of New Zealand.
Opened 11 September
