Operators of Argentinean restaurant Garufa to open a second site, Garufin, in Holborn
The team behind Argentinean restaurant Garufa in Islington, north London, is to open a second site in Holborn.
Restaurateurs Alberto Abbate and Gustavo Vazquez, together with new business partner and executive chef Ernesto Paiva, will open Garufin in Holborn on 24 October.
Billed as an Argentinean restaurant and café-bar, it will specialise in regional food from across the South American country, with a focus on meat dishes from the chargrill.
The restaurant will be split over two levels. The 20-seat ground floor area will act as a no-bookings café-bar serving small plates as well as an all-day brunch menu, available to eat in or take away. Interiors will feature exposed brickwork, a black-and-white tiled floor, high ceilings and reclaimed wooden tables.
Downstairs, the main restaurant will accommodate 40 diners for a more formal dining experience, with warm colours, low lights and vaults converted into wine cellars.
Abbate, who is also behind the highly successful Argentinian restaurants Santa Maria Del Sur, Moo! Grill and Casa Malevo, said: "This is a very exciting time for us. Ernesto, Gustavo and I have created something in Garufin that we feel is very special.
"We pride ourselves on the quality of our ingredients and hope that because we're focusing on the food from the different regions of Argentina, people will feel we've brought something interesting and exciting to London."
