Paul bakery group reveals more details on Birmingham site

French bakery shop, café and restaurant group Paul has revealed more information on its soon-to-open Birmingham site.

Located within the Grand Central shopping centre, the 190 sq m, 20-cover venue will open on 24 September. It will be the group's 34th shop and its third opening outside London after Oxford in December 2014, and Newbury in spring this year.

The opening forms part of a wider roll-out, with another UK site expected before the end of 2015.

Open all day, the bakery and café will offer the usual selection of on-site baked bread, along with pâtisserie, viennoiserie, salads and sandwiches. There will also be coffee, soups, croques and pizzas, available to eat in or take away.

Jean-Michel Orieux, chief executive of Paul UK, commented: "We hope that our arrival in Birmingham will be a great addition not only to the newly launched retail hub but to the vibrant tourist market and its bustling economy.

"Birmingham has a wonderful balance of cultural heritage and a well-established local community, and we hope that the people of the area will enjoy our exclusive range of traditional, hand-crafted bakery and fine pâtisserie products."

Along with its bakeries and cafés, Paul also operates a restaurant in London's Covent Garden, with another set to open in the city's Tower 42 early September.
