Pep Guardiola among investors bringing Michelin-starred Catalan chef Paco Perez to Manchester

Manchester City FC manager Pep Guardiola is among a group of investors bringing Michelin-starred Spanish chef Paco Perez to Manchester to open Tast Cuina Catalana.

The 120-cover restaurant, which will launch in June on King Street, is a joint venture between Guardiola, Manchester City colleagues Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, and the Fazenda group.

Perez is chef-patron of the Miramar in Girona, Spain, and Enoteca at the Arts Hotel in Barcelona, both of which hold two Michelin stars.

At Tast in Manchester he is planning to create more accessible restaurant which will be designed to showcase the best of Catalan food.

It will feature Perez's take on traditional Catalan dishes, alongside a selection of sharing plates.

Perez said: "We are delighted to bring the Catalan cuisine to Manchester and to be part of the amazing team behind Tast."

Fazenda director Tomas Maunier added: "We are hugely excited to be working with these amazing creative talents. Catalonia has a distinctive identity and culture from that of Spain and our ambition is to introduce people to its wonderful tastes and flavours.

"Paco's reputation is immense and we will serve some of his and Pep's favourite Catalan dishes, both traditional and with innovative modern twists."
