Phoenix Inn in Hartley Wintney wins Best British Roast Dinner 2012
The Phoenix Inn in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, has won the 2012 "Best British Roast Dinner" title.
Sisi Ryder, manager of the Phoenix Inn, beat off four other finalists by impressing the mystery diner judge with a delicious roast dinner, served by a friendly, helpful and welcoming team.
Ryder said: "We are over the moon to have won this title. We've been working so hard for the past three years and have always been particular about provenance, seasonality and freshness.
"Andrew, my husband and chef, believes in serving food that our grandparents would recognise and he never compromises his standards, even when we're rushed off our feet. It's great to know that all our efforts have paid off."
Sarah Branagan, category manager for sauces at sponsor Knorr, said: "All the finalists served our mystery diner a delicious roast dinner, but the Phoenix's winning plate stood out above the rest. They should be very proud of their achievement and the gravy was spot-on!"
