Pierre Condu plans restaurant at Centrepoint

Restaurateur, nightclub owner and entrepreneur Pierre Condu is to launch a new eaterie and bar at the top of London's landmark Centrepoint building on Tottenham Court Road.

The owner of exclusive London private members' club Century said he had secured the top two floors of the building as part of a major redevelopment.

Condu, former owner of Bistrot Bruno in Soho and L'Odeon, said the new operation wouldn't open for at least a year.

Condu said the new business would not be a private members' club. "It has a view that everybody should see," he added.

\* A spokeswoman for Alan Yau denied he was considering installing his own operation in Centrepoint and said the group was focusing on its new site due to open in New York at the end of the year. Yau is also planning a Hakkasan restaurant in Istanbul later this year.
