Pizza and cider brand the Stable to open first London restaurant
Located in a former nightclub in Whitechapel, the outlet will become the 14th restaurant for the group, founded by Nikki and Richard Cooper in Dorset in 2009. Pub company Fuller's acquired a 51% stake in the business for £7.3m two years ago.
Richard Cooper said the group's newest restaurant would respect the passion the Stable brand has for the best hand-made pizza and cider.
"Our restaurants are a cathedral to cider; 80 variants representing the very finest of the art, the pinnacle, a Mecca for cider lovers," he explained. "So it follows that we should have a cathedral to cider in London.
"It will appeal to young and old alike because what unites them is an attitude that is to seek out the finest expression of authenticity."
With its long communal tables, open kitchen, stripped back design and music, the restaurant will encourage social interaction, sharing and conversation. Meals are ordered at the bar to encourage the sampling of different cider varieties.
Whitechapel will host music nights, and Tuck In Tuesday, a £10 promotion for selected pizzas, side salad and a drink.
The Stable will open in Whitechapel Road on 21 April.
