PizzaExpress to open restaurants in India

PizzaExpress has revealed plans to enter the Indian market, in a joint venture with a local Indian firm.

Gondola Holdings-owned PizzaExpress will enter a venture with Bharti Family Office, as it makes a bid to break into the country.

It follows other pizza firms Domino's and Pizza Hut, which have both set up ventures there in recent years.

A PizzaExpress spokeswoman said: "The Indian market presents an exciting opportunity for PizzaExpress and we are looking forward to working with the Bharti Family Office to establish our business there.

"We hope to open our first restaurant some time next year."

The locations of the new restaurants are still to be confirmed.
