Platform owners launch Le Truc in Birmingham
Tony and Sarita McKinlay, owners of Platform in London and the Selly Sausage cafe in Selly Oak, have opened a new venue, Le Truc, in Birmingham.
Le Truc aims to offer a take on the coolest Parisian bars and restaurants. It sits near the Hippodrome theatre on the corner of the Arcadian, and replaces Chez Jules, which opened in 1995 and recently closed its doors.
The venue itself retains the original interior created by restaurant designer David Collins.
The Le Truc team have taken this foundation and structure and added a modern twist inspired by the France of Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg.
Manager Michelle Righini joins from London steakhouse Hawksmoor, while chef Andy Walker has worked at some of Birmingham's top restaurants, including Le Petit Blanc, Bank, Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin, and executive chef Richard Teague worked alongside Adam Byatt at London's Hospital Club.
