Portland trio launch sister site
The team behind Portland restaurant in London's Fitzrovia is to open a second site.
Will Lander, Daniel Morgenthau and chef Merlin Labron-Johnson will open Clipstone on Clipstone Street, close to their original restaurant.
Offering a more casual approach than their first venture, the 52-cover Clipstone will offer cold cuts, sourdough flatbreads and sharing dishes such as wood pigeon (served with its claw), and ravioli of hay-baked carrot and ricotta with brown butter and hazelnuts.
Chef Labron-Johnson has also devised summer plates such as lardo di colonnata, caramelised walnuts and fried leeks with sauce gribiche.
He will work between the two restaurants as executive chef, while his two sous chefs will step up with Stuart Andrew leading the kitchen at Clipstone and head chef Edoardo Pellicano taking the reins at Portland.
