Prezzo kitchen fire forces Silverburn mall evacuation

A fire in the kitchen of a Prezzo restaurant forced the evacuation of Glasgow shopping centre Silverburn yesterday.

Fire crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the scene in the city's Pollok district just after midday on Thursday.

Three appliances attended the scene and crews gained access to other units within the centre to check for any hidden fire spread, reported the BBC.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: "We received a call around 12:07 reporting a kitchen fire at a restaurant in Silverburn Shopping Centre.

"Firefighters reached the scene approximately three minutes later and a team in breathing apparatus tackled the fire using a high pressure jet."

No one was hurt in the incident and shoppers were allowed back into the mall shortly after 2pm, when business returned to normal.
