PS The Pub Company to open third Blues Smokehouse
PS The Pub Company is to open a third Blues Smokehouse, this time in the Assembly in central Slough, Berkshire.
Work has begun on a £600,000 renovation of the site by the pub's owner Star Pubs & Bars and multiple operator, PS The Pub Company.
The pub was previously closed for a number of years and will re-open as a Blues Smokehouse in late April creating 50 full and part-time jobs.
It will open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and also include a coffee and bakery bar.
Carlos Maidana, director of PS The Pub Company, said: "The location in the heart of Slough is ideal for a Blues Smokehouse and we are excited to be at the start of the £1bn regeneration of the town. Unlike our other sites, where we've been restricted by the buildings' layouts, we've started with a blank canvas at the Assembly which is enabling us to create a real wow factor.
"Other outlets are doing barbecue and smoking meat as part of an extended menu, we however are all about genuine and authentic barbecue, it's our raison d'etre. Our rubs and sauces have proved so popular in fact that we are now producing them to sell direct to customers and will be launching a retail brand. We're looking to expand further and already in negotiating on a fourth site."
Chris Jowsey, trading director of Star Pubs & Bars, said: "The Assembly in Slough has been vacant for many years. It needed a visionary licensee to take it on. Carlos and his team have made a great success of their Blues Smokehouses in Bracknell and Twickenham, also Star Pubs & Bars sites, so we are delighted to be partnering with them again. Its great location, the town's regeneration plans and significant investment together with a winning offer will create a bar restaurant with lasting appeal."
