Restaurant Association co-founder Manny Franks passes away
Manny Franks, one of the founder members of the Restaurant Association, has passed away aged 89.
Franks served on the executive committee of the Restaurant Association from its inception for more than 25 years. His dedication was recognised with an MBE and fellowship of the Institute of Hospitality.
After catering for the troops as a captain in the Army Catering Corps, Franks rose to become chairman of the 8444 group of restaurants. He established the highly successful chain of Wainwright and Daughter butchers shops, which counted the Queen Mother among its clientele.
Franks is survived by his wife Joan, and children David, Michael and Jane.
